Holy sh1t.. It transfers a series of images into a 3d object! And it seems that they are auto textured!
Finally will i have a 3d model of my genitals

It's bye bye to the 3d modelling market for sure.
I thought Holy Sh*t too
I didn't think about photographing my genitals though!
my first test confused it becuase the natural daylight altered and my shadow confused it.
You can take characters in the t position and photo them in then animate them cool.
Here is the example exported as obj file and imported in unwrap

As is, its as unusable for the game engines as it can get.
Even mobile versions have gazillion tri's, pain in the azz to make a custom unwrap while maintaining texturing, poly structure is hideous etc
However, i do see a future market in the home holographic solutions, when you scan models (friends?) and make them perform exotic motions for your own entertainment

poly reduction in unwrap or blender is the way forward. Just tested and got the above model down from 1800 to 250 with no real probs.
I have just photographed our washing line and waiting for the model.
I would post teh result but don't want my dirty laundry hung out in public...quite literaly.
I have to agree that alot of fun can be had with this too.

Way to be a downer.
First of all, PhotoModeler didnt texture, second of all, it costs over 2k bucks, third of all, everything has been done before, but it doesnt mean that we have easy access to it

not a single thing in Gears of War or Portal could have been made using this technique.

No offence but can you guys really not see the benefits of this software?
It reduces down perfectly for the iPhone Android market, it models existing buildings and you can use if for people then add skeleton rig.
You can then cartoonify the texture or build normal maps etc .
This software is a golden nugget, I hate Autodesk, as far as I can tell this is free software!
It processes on their server then comes back down locally were you can save as fix or obj file.

Nice catch! If a relatively painless pipeline can take the model to low poly for mobilegames then it will also be possible to sculpt cool game models out of plastiscine, something I'd like to do. Will check this out.
People should post test models still shots here ( no genitals, low poly or not ).

I wasn't saying photo modeller was good/better, just that the idea wasn't new

Really? A lot of people knew about this ever since it was first called project PhotoFly... I've tried it many times, it works well with buildings, but that's about it. It creates horrible topology and you'd have to re-topo each model manually.
The only future of this is real 3D scanning and mesh mixing. A giant free world-wide point cloud mesh database is the future significant part of 3D design.

I know this technology isn't new but it's free and offered in an easy 5min to use format.
You get a GUI client for pushing photos onto remote server. (why the spatial correlation algo can't be ran locally I don't know, it's not heavy by todays standards, maybe for future license control)
I set up a lazy susan with good lighting and placed a toy figure on it, took 8 shots at 45deg Y axis increments.
It kept failing, so I chose "email me with result" and it told me no 3D data could be extracted because the camera was in the same position for each shot. Which it was as far as lighting went, but the whole scene was rotating.
So I tried walking round the figure taking another 8 shots, again it failed for me with same return. Maybe it's looking for more obvious geometry than the rounded bubble-bobble like figure I fed it.
