The only benefit of having a publisher is marketing through their channels?
What percentage of the sales does chillingo claims?

Back in the day when publishers were responsible for burning dvd's, making boxes and getting the product into the shops, there was no way around it. But as digital distribution changed the industry, i am rlly wondering about the true value of having one.

Yeah but marketing through their channels can be a *huge* boon.

Of course you should do your research and get a deal that's best for you.
But sometimes the question is: Do you want a bigger piece of a very small pie, or a slice of a very big one.

I would love to see some numbers when the game comes out if the developer would be willing to share

DoctorPepper, the publisher do more than promote a game in their channels. When you sign with a publisher like Chillingo they helps in many ways to develop the game. In our case they have helped us a lot in the dificulty of the levels, features, testing ...

In our case, we are a small studio and we haven`t a departament for marketing, relationship, advertising, sales ... so they make this part of work instead of us and we have more time to work in the game.

Thanks Psychopsam. We have in mind to make a few tutorials with some of the tricks that we have used for the game (water effect, rain ...) when the game be available and when we have some time.
