I wonder if in the next version the ODE Dynamics module will receive a update to the latest functionalities of ode like some new joints, a function to set 2d collisions, etc..?

I hope they get rid of ODE completely and instead get something reliable any time soon. The collision detection of ODE is just horrible. I doubt that it has changed recently.

I'm alomst fine with ODE. The problem is the lack of triangle mesh collision support (wich prevents us from doing nice physics sandbox games) and some other stuff... Maybe that bullet plugin could arrive at 2012...

maybe ode just gets gone instead for Bullet.
Yeah ODE could be nice but even if you use 100% of ODE its a joke from the capabilities point of view as well as from the performance point of view.
ODE is fine if you want a lightweight collision system, but the moment you want physics its no longer a first, second or third choice anymore with physx, havok and bullet in the mix

Even if this is a shameless thread bump, i wanted to know from Stonetrip if 19.2/2.0 will have a real physics engine revamp? It didnt get very clear if yes, and what engine would be integrated....

yes, it will have a revamp, including fancy stuff like clothes.
