Is it possible to import a gigantic planet with gravity?

Postby Troopermanaic » 08 Nov 2011, 04:43

I am new to shiva3d but im not clueless. Learning fast but still have lots to learn.

Im using an external program to make the maps basically I am making earth "sphere", it wont be the same size as earth but it should still be pretty big and that itself will be the terrain. Now with this project I obviously need distance culling "LOD" so that I don't render the entire planet at the same time that would be horrendous on hardware. Because this game will have physics I need to figure out how to make "Gravity" I know its not that simple but for the sake of simplicity lets call it that. It would be convenient to be able to set a distance from the pivot point "Center of earth" from which gravity effects "you" so that I can emulate space as well.
Im not entirely worried about space at the moment though because earth is my main focus, later on ill be trying to figure out water as well.

Any ideas how to get this done?
