Here's the fruits of my labour. 72 hour game jam for Ludum Dare...

Instructions on screen, but basically save all the scientists by touching them and avoid getting hit by the spiky things.

Pity the fresnel shader doesn't work on the iPhone - it would make a great game for that. I think I'll make lots more missions and release on the Mac app store and Steam.

Use OGlES2.0 .. that at least solves it on Android

Worked well on my win 7 PC although crosshair targetting seemed a bit off. Got all scientists and ( I think) killed all spiky things. Simple but effective for a short game.

Thanks for the feedback. I played Gears of War afterwards so see how they did the cross hair, and they don't even have one. I think I'll just do a laser sight. You know if you got all the scientists when you get the end game screen.

yes they do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugjgEisc-Cs#t=52s (second 52 and up)
the crosshair only pops up if you are aiming or in cover mode.

Good point, and also the cross hair is not calculated like I'm trying to do, it's just centre screen, so care has to be taken that the aim point is always centre screen. I think my aim point is a bit laggy as it borrows from the camera math which interpolates to look smooth.
